Tuesday Speedwork:
October-May: Start Time 6:00 pm
June-August: Start Time 6:30 am
Speed workouts sessions are held at the Highland High School (1700 E 2100 S) track. We meet at the Garden Center parking lot at the NE corner of Sugar House Park at 1602 E 2100 S, just before the Highland High School fence line.
We typically warm up with a lap around Sugar House Park and then head down to the track for the workout. In the winter the track is covered in snow and ice so the workouts are conducted in the park. We are a prompt group, so if you don’t want to miss us, please be on time.
On occasion we break from regularity and have a workout at a different location. It is always posted on our calendar and a reminder is often posted on Facebook for the change. All are welcome and encouraged to come. The workout posted is a guideline, but it can always be adapted to meet your needs. If you are wanting to build some speed this is the run for you.

Thursday Morning Trail Runs
Satisfy your inner mountain goat!
This trail run will take place every Thursday morning at 6:30 am starting from various trailheads around the University/Avenues area. We are a dog-friendly group, so if Fido needs to get his miles in as well feel free to bring him along.
Keep in mind that weather impacts trail conditions and there may be mornings where we decide to run on the road. The appropriate gear can also make your sunrise trail run much more enjoyable:
- Good pair of trail running shoes
- Headlamp to light your path
- Yaktrax for snowy/icy trail conditions
We look forward to seeing you on the Salt Lake City Back Track!
Saturday Long Runs
Long runs are designed to support marathon training, and gradually increasing distances support training for fall and spring marathons. Each season we start with a base distance of ~12 miles and increase to give runners several long runs at 20 – 22 miles. Commonly, we have runners at paces between 7:00 to 12:00 minute miles. All paces are welcome!
The early miles start schedule is as follows:
8:00 am until late March
7:00 am until Memorial Day, then
6:00 am until Labor Day, then
7:00 am until Daylight Savings Time ends in the Fall, then
8:00 am until late March again!
For runners who want to run on Saturday but want to start later or run less, we plan the routes to pick up a second late-start group.
The late start (later start, fewer miles) schedule is as follows:
9:00 am until late March
8:00 am until Memorial Day, then
7:00 am until Labor Day, then
8:00 am until Daylight Savings Time ends in the Fall, then
9:00 am until late March again!
