Meet Our Coaches
Say hello to our volunteer Track Tuesday coaches! They work hard to design and lead our weekly Track Tuesday meetups.
We're always looking for more help from folks who have experience! Reach out to one of our coaches or a board member to see how you can get involved.

Kirkwood Donavin
Track Tuesday Coach
Coach Kirk has been a member of SLC Track Club since ~2005 when his mother, longtime member Georgi, signed up the whole family. Back then, running was "lame", but it became much cooler in college: Kirkwood ended up excelling in cross country and track, achieving NCAA DIII All-Central-Region in the 8K during the 2011 cross country season, and even further awarded NCAA DIII All-American in the mile (3rd), Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference MVAthlete for the 2011 indoor season, and Cornell Colleges Sportsman of the year for the 2010/2011 academic year.
Coach Kirk enjoys helping athletes strengthen and build confidence in their abilities. During his collegiate senior year, Kirkwood began mentoring fellow teammates as a Captain of the XC and Track & Field teams. He took over as volunteer coach with a track club in Bozeman Montana in 2015 for a couple of years. Kirkwood later moved back to Salt Lake City and took on a volunteer co-coaching role with SLCTC in 2022. The club supported him in attaining an RRCA Coaching Certificate (Level 1) that same year.

Giselle Slotboom
Track Tuesday Coach
Giselle joined Salt Lake Track Club in 2021 and was asked to coach the Tuesday group not long after that. She ran collegiate for the University of Utah and helped the team to their first two NCAA D1 Cross Country National Championship attendances in the program's history. She still runs competitively on the trails, and clocked a 14th place in the World Mountain Running Championships vertical distance in 2023.
Giselle brings extensive coaching experience to the team, with 10+ years of coaching adults and high school athletes. Including local high schools Rowland Hall High School and Olympus High School. She is excited to help SLTC runners become faster runners at the Tuesday workouts while fostering a supportive and inclusive group atmosphere.

Jillian Kupchella
Track Tuesday Coach
Jillian joined the track club in 2023 when she moved to Salt Lake from Boston. She started running in high school, joining her school’s track team and getting thrown into all the “tall person” events like high jump, long jump, and hurdles. However, field events didn’t stick, and she eventually found her passion in distance running. Jillian ran cross country and track for Brown University, and began running marathons in 2023. She has also picked up trail running since moving to Salt Lake, and loves getting into the Cottonwood canyons whenever possible! She’s excited to take on the role of track Tuesday coach starting in fall of 2026.
