President – Greta Sommerfeld
Greta started running with the track club even before moving to SLC in 2017 & has been involved ever since: launching the club’s Instagram presence, writing the newsletter, & eventually being talked into the VP role. Her favorite runs are silly long adventures, like King’s Peak, the Presidential Traverse, & Cirque of the Towers. Though a string of injuries has sidelined her from running recently – fingers crossed you’ll find her back on the trails sometime soon!!

Vice President, Making Strides Director – Ryan Timme
Ryan started running in his early twenties and instantly fell in love with the activity. He enjoys the physical and mental benefits that come with consistent running and pushing your limits to achieve new goals. He likes running anything from roads to trails. Ryan has been involved with Club leadership since about 2020 and strives to build a strong running community here in SLC. Let him know if you’re up for a long run in the mountains!

Secretary – Tiffany Diaz
I’ve been part of the track club for about 2 or 3 years now, and currently serve as the board’s secretary. Although I don’t race as much as I used to, I enjoy this running community. These days I enjoy trail runs with my oldest son, Zane (when he’s visiting from college!), and with my puppy, Mylo.

Track Tuesday Coach – Kirkwood Donavin
Coach Kirk has been a member of SLC Track Club since ~2005 when his mother, longtime member Georgi, signed up the whole family. Back then, running was “lame”, but it became much cooler in college: Kirkwood ended up excelling in cross country and track, achieving NCAA DIII All-Central-Region in the 8K during the 2011 cross country season, and even further awarded NCAA DIII All-American in the mile (3rd), Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference MVAthlete for the 2011 indoor season, and Cornell Colleges Sportsman of the year for the 2010/2011 academic year.
Coach Kirk enjoys helping athletes strengthen and build confidence in their abilities. During his collegiate senior year, Kirkwood began mentoring fellow teammates as a Captain of the XC and Track & Field teams. He took over as volunteer coach with a track club in Bozeman Montana in 2015 for a couple of years. Kirkwood later moved back to Salt Lake City and took on a volunteer co-coaching role with SLCTC in 2022. The club supported him in attaining an RRCA Coaching Certificate (Level 1) that same year.

Track Tuesday Coach – Giselle Slotboom
Giselle joined Salt Lake Track Club in 2021 and was asked to coach the Tuesday group not long after that. She ran collegiate for the University of Utah and helped the team to their first two NCAA D1 Cross Country National Championship attendances in the program’s history. She still runs competitively on the trails, and clocked a 14th place in the World Mountain Running Championships vertical distance in 2023.
Giselle brings extensive coaching experience to the team, with 10+ years of coaching adults and high school athletes. Including local high schools Rowland Hall High School and Olympus High School. She is excited to help SLTC runners become faster runners at the Tuesday workouts while fostering a supportive and inclusive group atmosphere.

Track Tuesday Coach – Brian Eisner
A native of Portland, Oregon, Brian first started running seriously back in high school where he specialized in shorter sprint events in track and field. He continued his track and field career at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota, where his primary events was the 400m hurdles outdoors and the open 400m indoors. After finishing college Brian moved around a bit before moving to Salt Lake City for grad school in 2019, and started running longer distances. After having the Track Club recommended to him by his former housemate, he started showing up to the workouts regularly, and became one of the coaches at the start of 2022.
Brian fell in love with trail running upon trying it out for the first time in 2021, and nowadays his favorite runs are those with significant elevation change to the highest mountain peaks. In the summer you’ll probably find him running the trails up at Snowbird and Alta, while in winter you’ll find him skiing those same slopes. But he continues to recognize the importance of speedwork in being a successful trail runner, and is a regular at the workouts most Tuesday evenings.
