Weekly Runs

Club runs are noncompetitive and are open to members, guests, and runners of all levels of experience and ability. Nonmembers are welcome but are asked to join the club and sign a liability waiver if they participate on a regular basis. There is no fee for the runs, and no facilities are provided. Tuesday Speedwork 6:30 am (for Summer)

Speed workouts sessions are held at the Highland High School (1700 E 2100 S) track. We meet at the Garden Center parking lot at the NE corner of Sugar House Park  at 1602 E  2100 S, just before the Highland High School fence line. 

For the summer morning sessions we will warm up on the track, to expedite time for those that need to get to work. Those that would like more miles can do a longer cool down in the park after the workout.

In Winter, when the track is covered in snow, we run on the road in Sugar House park, meeting at the same location.

On occasion we break from regularity and have a workout at a different location. It is always posted on our calendar and a reminder is posted on Facebook for the upcoming workout. All are welcome and encouraged to come. The workout posted is a guideline, but it can always be adapted to meet your needs. If you are wanting to build some speed this is the run for you.

Thursday Morning Trail Runs

Satisfy your inner mountain goat!

This trail run will take place every Thursday morning at 6:30 am starting from various trailheads around the University/Avenues area. We are a dog-friendly group, so if Fido needs to get his miles in as well feel free to bring him along. You’ll notice below that the even days say “Off-leash dog run.” Those are off-leash dog free-for-all days. On odd days please either leave Fido at home, put Fido on a leash, or start 5 minutes before the rest of the group. (We’re trying this out as a way to keep everyone happy and safe on the trail.)

Keep in mind that weather impacts trail conditions and there may be mornings where we decide to run on the road. The appropriate gear can also make your sunrise trail run much more enjoyable:

  • Good pair of trail running shoes
  • Headlamp to light your path
  • Yaktrax for snowy/icy trail conditions

Saturday Fun Run

Beginning in November, Saturday morning runs will start at 9:00 am. The core distance is usually about 6 miles; attendees often arrive early for extra mileage. Runners are invited to linger for post-run beverages, food, and socializing. For dates with a member-hosted post-run breakfast, the breakfast location will be announced at the run. (The host will provide a main dish; please bring a beverage or breakfast item to share.)
